Telehealth & Emergency Information

Evening Harbor Psychiatry LLC

Telehealth Services

Evening Harbor Psychiatry LLC provides psychiatric services through telehealth to eligible patients in New York.

Telehealth allows patients and healthcare providers to communicate remotely using electronic technology. Depending on the clinical circumstances, telehealth may be used for psychiatric evaluations, follow-up appointments, medication management, and other appropriate psychiatric services.

Telehealth is not appropriate for every patient or clinical situation. Your provider will use clinical judgment to determine whether telehealth is appropriate for your care and whether an in-person evaluation, a higher level of care, or another service is needed.

Important Emergency Information

Evening Harbor Psychiatry is not an emergency or crisis-response service.

If you are experiencing a medical or psychiatric emergency, believe you may be in immediate danger, or are at immediate risk of harming yourself or someone else:

  • Call 911 or go to the nearest emergency department.
  • For suicide-related or emotional crisis support in the United States, call 988 or text 988, or visit https://988lifeline.org.
  • Do not wait for an appointment, email response, or return telephone call before seeking emergency assistance.

The practice's routine contact information and appointment scheduling services are not substitutes for emergency services.

Your Location During Telehealth Appointments

Your physical location matters during a telehealth appointment, particularly if an emergency occurs.

You may be asked to confirm your current physical address, telephone number, and emergency contact information. Your provider may also discuss available emergency services in your area and how assistance could be arranged if needed.

Patients should inform the practice when their location changes, including when traveling to another state. The ability to provide telehealth care may depend on the patient's location and applicable professional licensing and legal requirements.

Privacy and Technology

For telehealth appointments, patients are encouraged to:

  • Join from a quiet, private location when possible.
  • Use a reliable internet connection and an appropriate device.
  • Avoid public Wi-Fi when a more secure connection is available.
  • Inform the provider if someone else is present or can hear the conversation.
  • Notify the provider of any privacy or technical concerns.

Electronic communication carries potential risks, including interruptions, equipment failures, unauthorized access, and limitations on the provider's ability to perform a physical examination.

Telehealth appointments are subject to applicable privacy laws and the practice's patient privacy procedures.

Technical Difficulties or Disconnections

If an appointment is interrupted by a technology problem, attempt to reconnect using the original appointment instructions.

If reconnection is unsuccessful, use the practice's established contact or scheduling channels to request further instructions. Your provider may determine whether the appointment can continue using another appropriate method or needs to be rescheduled.

If an emergency occurs during a disconnection, call 911 or seek immediate local emergency assistance. Do not rely on reconnecting to the appointment for emergency care.

Telehealth Consent and Clinical Limitations

Patients may be asked to complete telehealth consent and other intake documents before receiving services.

Your provider may discuss the benefits, risks, alternatives, privacy considerations, and practical limitations of telehealth as appropriate.

Telehealth does not guarantee that all evaluations, prescriptions, or treatments can be provided remotely. Clinical, legal, insurance, and prescribing requirements may affect the services available.
